A little volume goes a long way.
Science says: skin loses firmness, volume, and moisture as time and the elements take their toll. But, science also says: we can change that.
If you have sunken cheeks, it’s probably due to low levels of hyaluronic acid (a substance that naturally exists between the cells of your body and gives your skin a firm, youthful appearance). As this substance decreases, wrinkles and fine lines form. But, with an injection of Voluma® into your cheeks, the lost volume is restored in minutes, leaving your face firmer, plumper, and more youthful. Results that define your features, not your age.
Before and After Pictures
What to Expect
The first step is your free consultation.
If you’re interested in injectables, the consultant will sit with you while you look in the mirror and point out the spots that you want to tweak. Then we’ll discuss options specific to your needs.
If you have a special event or vacation coming up, you may want to schedule your treatment at least 2 weeks in advance.
If you have a rash, please get it treated before coming in.
Expect to reschedule any invasive treatments you planned to have up to two weeks before getting Voluma®.
Treatments are quick, easy, and done in less than an hour.
Expect some minimal discomfort during the treatment.
You have the option to receive a topical anesthetic prior to treatment.
You should see results right after getting treated but will see the full effect in one to two weeks.
You’ll be asked to avoid Aspirin while recovering—use acetaminophen instead.
You might have some minor swelling for a couple of weeks.
What causes sunken cheeks and thin lips?
If the skin on your face appears to be thin and sunken, low levels of hyaluronic acid could be to blame. Your body is comprised of a number of cells, and this substance naturally exists in between them, giving your skin a firm, youthful appearance. As you age, the substance gradually decreases, slowly depleting your face of moisture and volume. Combined with other factors, this can cause an increase in the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines.
How does Voluma® work?
Juvéderm Voluma® XC can be injected into the cheeks to restore their natural suppleness. A fine needle targets the areas to boost their volume and beautifully contour the face. In a matter of minutes, your skin is restored to a firm, plump state. Your face will be more defined and instantly appear more youthful. There’s zero downtime, and you can immediately continue on with your day.
Is Juvederm® Voluma® XC painful?
Comfort levels vary from person to person, and the professionals at Ideal Image are trained to make your sessions as pleasant as possible. Juvéderm® Voluma® XC contains lidocaine to improve comfort during treatment. You can also ask for a topical treatment that can further reduce discomfort.
How long does the session last?
One of the biggest advantages of dermal fillers is the brevity of treatment. In mere minutes, you’ll notice plumper skin, and you can walk out of the clinic looking younger than you did on the way in. For your first treatment, you’ll need to set aside time for a free consultation with one of our consultants who can walk you through the process and answer any questions you may have. Following your first treatment, you’ll see beautiful results, but you may wish to schedule more, depending on your goals. The treatments that follow should be even shorter in duration and require less of the substance.
Does Voluma® have any side effects?
Side effects are rare, and they’re even less likely to happen when you seek the help of a trusted medical or nursing professional like those at Ideal Image. Some risks include redness, tenderness and swelling at the injection site. Also, as with all injections, there’s a chance of infection. Potential side effects can be covered during your free consultation. Please feel free to ask your consultant any questions you may have about being treated with Voluma®.
How much does Voluma® cost?
The cost depends on you and your needs. Everyone’s a little bit different. It’s important to come into our clinic for a complimentary consultation and discuss exactly what your needs are. We will customize a package just for you.
How is Juvéderm® Voluma® XC different from other injectables?
Juvéderm® Voluma® XC is different from other gel-like injectables. First, it’s used specifically in the cheek area to make them appear more plump and youthful. Juvéderm® Ultra XC and Juvéderm® Ultra Plus XC are similar injectable fillers that focus more on deeper lines and are used to target laugh lines and thin lips. Voluma® is not a wrinkle relaxer like Botox®. Juvéderm® Voluma® XC is the only hyaluronic acid filler that is FDA-approved to instantly add volume to the cheek area. It can also last up to two years with optimal treatment. If you’re looking to plump cheeks that have sunken over time, this injectable is a quick, convenient approach to skin care.
Juvéderm® Voluma® XC vs. fat grafting: what’s the difference?
Also known as fat transplantation and facial fat injection, fat grafting is the process of taking fat from one part of your body and placing it in another. Often, the fat is removed from the hips or thighs and injected into certain areas of the face to promote a fuller, more youthful appearance. While the process can produce beautiful, natural-looking results, there’s a chance that your body could almost immediately absorb the injected fat cells, or they could die and reverse the effects of the procedure. Juvederm® Volume XC, on the other hand, can help achieve that same youthful-looking fullness, minus the risks.
