Xeomin®
Frequently Asked Questions

What is Xeomin®?

  • Xeomin® is an FDA-approved prescription treatment that, like Botox®, temporarily improves the appearance of of moderate to severe crow’s feet, elevens (lines between the brows, typically the result of furrowing), and forehead wrinkles in adults. This is a minimally invasive treatment that takes minutes and requires little to no downtime.

How does Xeomin® work?

  • Xeomin® relaxes the muscles responsible for expression lines within the treatment area, temporarily blocking nerve activity to pause movement. When these small muscles no longer tighten and contract, the skin above can relax — leaving it looking smooth and youthful.

What’s the difference between Xeomin® and Botox®?

  • Both are FDA-approved, clinically proven wrinkle relaxers with corrective and preventative benefits. Xeomin® and Botox® utilize botulinum toxin type A to temporarily prevent muscle contractions so frown lines and other expression lines can soften — giving you natural-looking results that last 2-4 months. Treatment process and dosages are similar as well: both are administered to targeted areas using a small shot.

The main difference is in the formula itself. Xeomin® only contains the active botulinum toxin type A; it isn’t formulated with the proteins found within Botox®.

How much does Xeomin® cost?

  • Cost is specific to your treatment plan and dependent on the ideal you’re hoping to achieve. Our consultants will work with you to customize a treatment package based on your needs.

How long does Xeomin® usually last?

  • Xeomin® typically lasts for 3-4 months. As it wears off, muscle action gradually returns and the previously treated lines and wrinkles may start to reappear — which if desired, signals for another treatment. In additional to your natural muscle movement, Xeomin® longevity is affected by age, existing sun damage, skin condition, facial structure, diet, and your past experience with Xeomin®, Botox®, and other wrinkle relaxers.

When will I see results with Xeomin®?

  • Timing varies from person to person, but most typically start noticing Xeomin® effects within 3-5 days, with its maximum results visible at 14 days.

Is Xeomin® safe?

  • Xeomin® is FDA-approved and injections are relatively safe when performed by an experienced injector. It has proven to be a successful and valuable therapeutic protein when dosage, frequency of treatment, and variety of treated clinical conditions are considered. The best way to ensure you receive the results you are looking for is to only receive injections from a highly experienced provider, such as the medical and nursing professionals at Ideal Image. For a complete list of potential side effects, please visit the Xeomin® website.

Who should not receive Xeomin®?

  • While most adults with moderate to severe frown lines are excellent candidates for Xeomin® and wrinkle relaxers, you should not use Xeomin® if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, have a skin infection or other condition in the area to be treated, are allergic to any ingredients in Xeomin®, Dysport, or any other botulinum toxin brand, have certain neuromuscular conditions, have difficulty swallowing, or have weakness in your forehead muscles. If you have any concerns as to whether you may be a good candidate, one of our consultants will be happy to answer any questions you may have. As with all medical procedures, it’s best to discuss the procedure with your doctor before starting treatment.
